The Cord Snug Armchair is a deep, soft chair for the corner of a snug. Its body is a rounded block of upholstery in grey wide-wale corduroy, with a back that rolls over at the top. Each side is held by a sculpted black-stained timber panel that forms the arm at the top and sweeps down to become the leg.
Corduroy has a pub feel to it: warm, tactile and forgiving of wear, and its ribs hide everyday marks. In a dark room, the grey body and black arms read as one shape.
Construction. Hardwood and plywood inner frame with foam over webbing; solid timber side panels bolted through the frame, so the body can be removed and re-upholstered while the arms are refinished. Seat cushion fixed to the frame.
Where it works. Pub snugs and lounges, hotel bars, by the fire and in reading corners where people stay for more than one drink.
Fabric. The corduroy shown can be replaced by a contract velvet, wool or faux leather, with foams and fabrics specified to BS 7176 medium hazard on request.
Options. Fabric, arm stain and a matching two-seater.
