The Bobbin takes a Victorian detail and gives it a modern pattern. The back posts are turned in a string of rounded beads, ending in larger ball finials, and between them sits a slim padded back pad covered in a fern-leaf jacquard in black on cream.
The seat matches: a firm padded pad in the same woven fern print, dropped into a dark frame with three fine moulded lines around the rail, like the reeding on an old table. The legs are straight, round and slightly tapered, in the same dark stain as the posts.
Why the pattern. Busy fabric hides spills and wear better than plain colour, which is an advantage in a pub where seats are in constant use. The fern print also softens the dark timber.
Construction. Solid hardwood frame with turned posts and mortise-and-tenon rails, plywood seat deck with high-resilience foam, back pad fixed between the posts. Foam and covers specified to BS 7176 medium hazard on request.
Where it works. Gastropubs, hotel bars, restaurants with a heritage interior.
Options. Fabric (COM accepted), stain, back pad height and glides.
