Light and lifted off the floor, this banquette is built to keep a small café feeling open. The back is cream textured fabric in wide horizontal channels, and its top corners are cut at an angle, which softens the outline against a painted wall. A thin oak edge runs along the top of the back. The seat is a single deep cushion in the same fabric, and the whole piece stands on tapered solid oak legs.
In the room shown it runs along a sage-green wall below open shelving, facing a light oak table and oak dining chairs, in a sunlit brunch café.
Construction. Hardwood and plywood frame; channels stitched through to a firm foam backing; seat on a sprung deck; solid oak legs bolted to the frame with glides. Free-standing, but can be fixed to the wall with hidden brackets.
Where it works. Cafés, brunch and breakfast restaurants, bakeries with seating, and small neighbourhood restaurants.
Options. Fabric or faux leather, colour, run length in sections, back height, leg timber and legs or plinth. For heavy use we suggest a performance fabric with a tight weave or a faux leather seat. Foams and fabrics specified to BS 7176 medium hazard on request.
