The Wave-Back Rattan Settle is a lighter take on the pub settle. Its pale oak frame has a top rail that rises and falls in a gentle wave, and the back and both arm panels are filled with flat woven rattan in a herringbone pattern. The seat is a long olive fabric cushion with ochre piping and a rounded front edge.
Four square legs lift it clear of the floor, and the open frame gives it the look of a garden-room or seaside bench rather than a heavy fixed seat.
Where it works. Conservatories and garden rooms, seaside pubs and cafés, hotel terraces under cover and entrance halls where a settle is wanted but dark oak would be too heavy.
Construction. Solid oak frame with mortise-and-tenon joints and clear lacquer; rattan woven onto separate frames that fix into the main frame, so a damaged panel can be renewed; seat cushion on a timber deck with a zipped cover.
Practical note. Rattan is for covered spaces only; it should not be left out in rain.
Options. Length, back profile (wave or straight), oak stain, rattan weave and cushion fabric.
