This is the working booth of a busy pub floor: two seats sharing one back, so a single unit serves a table on each side. The seats are terracotta leather, square-edged and firm, chosen because they take the most wear. The shared back is upholstered in a woven fabric in the same terracotta, which is softer to lean on and quieter acoustically than leather.
A solid timber cap rail runs along the top of the back. It is the part people grab when they stand up, so making it in hardwood rather than fabric keeps the top edge clean and undamaged. The base is a dark timber plinth set slightly back from the seat front.
Construction. One hardwood and plywood carcass with a central spine; seat boxes on each side with high-resilience foam; back upholstered on both faces; cap rail screwed down through the frame and replaceable.
Where it works. Pubs, family restaurants and café-bars where booths run in rows down the room.
Options. Seat and back materials, colour, cap rail timber, length for two or three per side and back height. Pairs with single-sided wall booths of the same section for the room edges. Foams and fabrics specified to BS 7176 medium hazard on request.
